“One Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all “(Ephesians 4: 6)

What is the sacrament of baptism?

The sacraments, as such are not an “invention” of the Church. But have been left in the tradition through Christ, who in turn pointed to his apostles and the community as repositories of them; to remember and to establish its presence and live intensely binding to the community in it. So then, the spread of the sacraments has been given to the church, and they leave the monkey Christ himself. Therefore, his strength is in the same divinity to carry them in His holy name.

Baptism is the sacrament by which the Church welcomes us to the great family of God, making us children of God, church members, brothers of Jesus Christ and heirs of heaven.

Through baptism we are away original sin and receive the three baptismal graces: becoming priests, prophets and kings. This sacrament is named after the Greek meaning “dip”. The “immersion” into the water symbolizes the catechumen’s (refers to the person who is prepared to receive baptism) burial in the death of Christ that goes by the resurrection with how new creature. Godparents

The Code of Canon Law that governs the Latin church, speaks of the “Godfather” or the “Godfathers” only in relation to the sacraments of Christian initiation, namely (cf. Canon 842 s. 2): Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist.

The proper function of Godfather assistance is Christian initiation of the infant. The godparents serves to submit along with their parents, and ensure that later lead a Christian life consistent with baptism and comply faithfully with Christian obligations.

Why godparents have to be married in the church?
